Supernatural Season 6 Premiere

The Supernatural season 6 premiere is confirmed to air September 24th on the CW

That’s a Friday, folks. Mark your calendars!

Supernatural Review; Swan Song (Season 5 Finale)

First of all, I have to say that I had to watch this episode twice last night and was not able to get my review up until this morning because there was so much to write about lol.  MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

So the recap, by tradition of course, was filled with the gloriousness that is Kansas’ Wayward Son. I think all the fans did a little fist pump and started dancing in their seats.

So the show opens and Sam and Dean are discussing Lucifer and saying yes. I’m not going to go too much into it because then I’d be analyzing every sentence and that might take several hours. Anyway, without describing every scene that happened in the finale, I only have a few things to say about this episode.

  • Mark Pellegrino is amazing. I’m going to miss him.
  • Jared really stepped it up in this episode (although there were some awkward moments where I was beginning to question is acting ability but he managed to pull it together when it counted lol)
  • Jensen brought Dean to a whole new, heartbroken level.
  • Jim Beaver was fantastic as usual. Loved that Bobby is the official Dad symbol.
  • Misha is always amazing and was particularly hilarious and adorable in this episode, giving Cas the perfect characterization.

The next points that I’ll point out are what I believe to be the most important parts of the finale.

  • The Impala. A symbol of Sam and Dean’s home away from home. Like Chuck said, they were never truly homeless as long as they had that car. Loved the imagry of Sam and Dean as children, leaving toy soldiers in the ashtrays, legos in the ventilation system, carving their names into the wood. I was wondering for about the entire episode why Chuck seemed to have been writing a eulogy for the Impala and was quite worried but realized he was only explaining the symbolic importance of the entire series as a whole. Family.
  • Chuck. The sneaky revelation at the end of his true being (which was clever, might I add) gave the end of the finale a very powerful moment. It allowed us to see that the whole point of the story wasn’t the Apocalypse or Good vs Evil or even Man vs Free Will. It was all about, once again, family. Kripke of course teased the fans lovingly, probably inserting alot of himself into Chuck and I really enjoyed that his narrative book ended the entire episode.
  • Sam and Dean. Throughout all five seasons, they’ve struggled with each other, grown closer as brothers, matured (well, as much as Dean can mature lolol <3 ) and have been ripped apart numerous times. This finale proved, even with Sam filled with demon blood and Lucifer, that not even an Apocalypse can take away the strength of their relationship. The flashbacks were particularly useful in displaying this, reiterating all 5 seasons thus far and reminding us how far this show has come.
  • Bobby. The father figure. Despite selling his soul to Crowley (which wasn’t all that bad considering that he had given Bobby back his legs) he has always remained a strong character in the brother’s lives since the end of season 1.
  • Castiel. I’ve always been biased towards him because he’s just such an interesting character but I won’t blab on for five paragraphs about him this time, I promise lol. Castiel started out as a feared Angel of the Lord, began doubting his orders and having compassion for humans, then fell and became human. This episode showed how far he has come as a character (and maybe a little too close to 2014!Cas) but in the end, was able to retain the very core of who he is. A gentle soldier, loyal and protective.

This has to be the only finale I will add to my list of favorite episodes. To be honest, it felt more like a series finale and Eric Kripke probably planned it that way considering the fact that he will no longer be the show runner next year. I would have preferred if season 5 had been the last and I honestly can’t see what season 6 could possibly be about but I assume it will probably have something to do with the last scene involving Sam.

While I would have liked to have seen Michael!Dean, Michael!Adam was very impressive. I also pretty much cried out in joy when Def Leppard’s Rock of Ages started playing as Dean drove into the cemetary. It has been too long since we’ve had some good classic rock on this show. BOO CW I’M LOOKING AT YOU, YOU CHEAP NETWORK.

All in all, my favorite finale thus far. And without spoiling too much, YAY CAS AND BOBBY. I KNEW THAT LONG COMMERICAL BREAK WOULD LEAD TO SOME HAPPINESS. <3

Overall, I’d give this episode a 10/10

Supernatural Season 5 Finale Tonight!

Be sure to check back for my review of tonight’s season 5 finale =D

Supernatural Review; Two Minutes To Midnight

So, I plan on watching this episode again tonight because SO much happened so quickly that I may have missed alot of dialogue and shiz. Anyway, here is my review, which will definitely not be as short as the last two, I PROMISE. Mostly because this episode didn’t suck at all. WHICH IS A GOOD THING. On to the review!

I was excited to see Pestilence again and he was his creepy nonchalant self. The green puke was a little disgusting and reminded me of The Exorcist but despite feeling my stomach following suit, I was able to watch the rest of the opening sequence. Now, I barely remember what happened after this because I was too excited by a new episode that I may have become comatose until Castiel phoned Dean from the hospital.

THE HOSPITAL PEOPLE.

SPOILERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

HE’S HUMAN.

So yes. As much as I love seeing Castiel wearing nothing but a hospital gown, I was pretty terrifyed about him having to take a plane and then a bus to get to Sam and Dean. BUT HE APOLOGIZED TO DEAN AND MADE UP WITH HIM SO IT WAS ALL GOOD.

So anyway, Crowley returns and shows all of them the gay kiss on his iphone. WHICH WAS BRILLIANT and then proceeds to let them know about Death’s location etc…

Now, by the time we got to half an hour into the episode, alot had gone down. Sam and Dean found Pestilence and with the help of Cas, were able to procure his ring. YAY! And of course, they suit up and come up with a plan to get Death’s ring. So Sam, Cas and Bobby fly off together for their half of the plan which involved killing all those involved with the Croatoan virus (and succeed somewhat) and Dean and Crowley head off to find Death – who was not where he was supposed to be but they found him in Chicago in a pizza place.

Dean, of course, is all kinds of freaked out once he meets with Death and then proceeds to make a deal with him involving his ring, Sam and averting the Apocalypse. I won’t go into detail about the deal because it’s kind of spoilery but OMG.

So. At the end, we see all four rings which are placed together in a strange design and Dean is now aware of how to work them in order to trap Lucifer and save the world.

Overall, I’d give this episode an 8/10

Supernatural Review; The Devil You Know

There is a reason this review is up so quickly. I could barely remember the name of the episode, let alone what happened in the actual episode. Now, you may be thinking the episode was so epic that I got amnesia and died from the awesomeness but…you would be WRONG.

Tonight’s new Supernatural episode reminded me of waiting all day for dinner and then only getting a few scraps. This episode seemed more like a filler – just to explain Sam’s background with Brady for about 5 seconds, character development for Crowley (which actually made the episode bearable) and some useless banter back and forth about stuff we’ve already learned about in the last episode. Honestly, this episode was extrememly underwhelming (as is most of this season) and I can only pray that the finale doesn’t let out an equally stale breath.

Overall, I’d give this episode a 1/10.  Maybe a 5 for Crowley <3

Supernatural Review; Hammer Of The Gods

I’m not going to spend alot of time reviewing this episode, mostly because it was basically just a plot device to inform us that there’s a new way to keep Lucifer from destroying the world.

This plan employed Gabriel telling the Winchesters on his death-bed video that there was a way to trap Lucifer and send him back to Hell by gathering the Four Horsement rings and recreating the seal they had opened in the first place.

The rest of the episode was pretty typical and predictable. Sam and Dean show up at a motel, eat some pie, talk about what happened in the last episode with Adam and Cas, find out that something strange is happening in the motel, discover that there are a bunch of gods huddled  up in a room trying to decide what to do about the Apocalypse, Gabriel shows up to spring Sam and Dean out of there, decided to fight on team free will, gets captured by gods, Lucifer shows up and kills the gods, then kill Gabriel and Sam and Dean make a run for it. The end.

As you can tell, I’m pretty eager to see this Apocalypse actually come to a climax.

I’ll have a more detailed review for the next episode :)

Supernatural Review; Point Of No Return (100th Episode)

JEREMY CARVER EPISODE \O/

After that being said (lmao), my review is going to start out by saying how incredibly proud I am of this show. 100 episodes people! I’ve been watching since the Pilot and have been pretty much obsessed ever since so it was nice to see Supernatural hit this landmark number. Anyway, off to the review! (SPOILERS!)

Loved the opening scene with Zachariah. To be honest, I felt quite bad for him while he was moping about being fired from heaven because I actually really like him (despite the fact that he’s a villain). His conversation with Stuart – which was hilarious – allowed us to see that Zachariah thinks in purely ‘office work’ terms and that he thinks of himself as an employee instead of a warrior Archangel. I was pretty stoked to see his boss show up (Michael?) and blast the bar to pieces. The effects of the eyeballs melting will never not be creepy and I loved the use of CGI in this episode.

Now we come to the scene with Dean packing his belongings and sending them to Bobby. I’m assuming Dean was, in a way, going to kill himself and that being by saying Yes to Michael. Which is ironic since the motel’s name was Mike’s Travel Inn. AHAHAHA. Also, the number on the door was 100. \o/ So anyway, Sam shows up all stalker!like which just proves how well he knows his brother if he’s able to find him so quickly. I have to say that in this episode, for the first time in probably 5 seasons, I was starting to feel the Sam love. I was pretty much rooting for him to stop Dean from taking off and to bash some sense into him…despite me really wanting him to say Yes to Michael lol.

Sam brought help, apparently, in the form of Castiel (YAY!!) and they swoosh off to Bobby’s place in a gust of teleportation. Once they arrive, Dean begins to rant about being able to save at least half the planet by saying Yes and of course Bobby and Sam and Cas don’t agree with this opinion. Dean was pretty snarky in this scene, obviously so desperate to save SOMEONE that he’s willing to give up his free will to do so. And then Castiel, being the Angel BAMF that he is, begins to feel something and clutches his head before swooshing away in a gust of fluttering papers.

Castiel walks through the (Vancouver area) forest and discovers something in the ground. I was pretty creeped out by the seemingly breathing aspect of the dirt and did a little : / face before a bunch of Angel henchment showed up to attack Cas. Thankfully he’s been putting time in at the fight school and was able to save himself with his Angel killing knife. He then proceeded to lift a dirtied hand from the ground and pull out an unrecognizable human being.

Cas then returns to Bobby’s place and drops the person on the bed…which for some reason was in the living room lol and Sam and Dean rush over to see what had happened. There, lying before them is their little brother Adam who we had last seen in season 4. Although I had read spoilers and already knew this was going to happen, the only thing I could say was: CASTIEL PULLED ANOTHER WINCHESTER OUT OF THE GRAVE LOLOLOL. Anyway, Adam wakes up and tells them that he knows who Sam and Dean are because the Zachariah told him all about them and that Adam was to be Michael’s vessel. Dean looked quite hurt by this and Cas twisted the knife saying that the Angels had ‘moved on from him’.

So of course now there’s a twist in the plot – Adam being Michael’s vessel to replace Dean. Sam tries to gather everyone together (and emprisoning a few) and became probably the only character left who has some faith that they could use free will to save the world. I just want to talk about Adam for a second. In season 4, he was a little like Sam, obeying his brothers completely as they told him about the hunting world. Now, he’s his own person and not willing to trust his own blood in order to save his own mother. Colours of Dean! I really liked the change and found Adam’s sarcasm refreshing for some reason – maybe because I was tired of the whole ‘we’re family, let’s go save the world, holier than thou’ speeches. Anyway, moving on.

Sam matured well throughout the seaons (despite drinking demon blood and all that melodrama) and I was cheering for him throughout this episode – which doesn’t normally happen since I find him incredibly irritating most of the time. So YAY SAM. He was able to keep everyone together without bashing in anyone’s head. Although, you couldn’t really say that about Castiel who, after checking on Dean and being sent away to the cornfield, decided he’d find him on the street and start to beat him up in an alley. I have to admit, it was one of my favorite scenes in this episode. I loved that at the end of the fight, after Cas released some of that angry energy, he was able to realize (hopefully) that despite what Dean was planning to do, there was no way he could have severely harmed him in any way.

Castiel has always been somewhat of a mush pot and true to his character, sedated Dean instead of killing him. So after they swooshed back to Bobby’s place (and I’m guessing Dean is going to have bathroom troubles for a few weeks now lol) they decide to handcuff Dean to the cot in the panic room. Which they should have done in the first place but this is Supernatural and people tend to escape that damn panic room like it’s a carboard box. -_-

Sam and Dean proceed to have a melodramatic brother talk (which I was still too distracted from Dean’s ‘blow me + the last time someone looked at me like that I got laid’ towards Castiel thing lol) and of course, had the same conversation they’ve been having all season. ‘You’re still my brother, we stick together, team free will, I don’t trust you, I’ll make you, I’ll say yes, No you won’t, Yes I will, blah blah blah blah blah’. Not that I’m saying it wasn’t an incredibly important conversation but if they had actually got off their asses and come up with a plan to stop Lucifer 18 episodes ago, they wouldn’t still be having this argument. There seemed to have been alot of talking in this episode – not something I’m opposed to – but there could have been alot more  ‘doing’ than ‘sitting’.

So they decide to come up with a really typical plan of walking right into a trap despite knowing it’s a trap. They find the green room from season 4 in Van Nuys California – which I’m still confused as to why the writers were saying it was so funny and surprising. Anyway, Adam is trapped in there as bait after Zachariah decided to tell him that he wasn’t really the true vessel (no surprise there) and that he was being used to get to Dean (again, no surprise there)

Outside, Castiel expresses his faithlessness in Dean (sadface) and then proceeds to remove his tie. You know things are starting to get serious when the Angel in the group removes his tie. I guess it’s comparable to the saying ‘the gloves are coming off’. So anyway, Castiel goes into the warehouse first and is then surrounded by a bunch of Angels. They have a little go at it and Castiel rises above them victorious as he rips off his shirt and hits the enochian sigil he carved into his own skin. And…a bunch of light explodes from his body and destroys the Angels. I’m assuming Castiel somehow sent himself into oblivion…but I’m hoping he hasn’t disappeared for good. What I can only assume is that his used his own grace to kill the other Angels and will now come back…maybe human? LOLOLOL We shall see.

Dean makes his way into the green room and finds Adam in a heap on the floor bleeding from the mouth and grabs him but is then confronted by Zachariah who is then confronted by Sam and a very lame attempt to kill him. Sam is flung into a wall in true Winchester fashion and Dean is left to watch both his brothers bleeding from the mouths while Zachariah takes his high horse and starts babbling about surrender and saying Yes and all that. Dean, of course, is only too willing to say Yes and it’s a pretty intense moment BUT he smirks and winks at Sam, conveying a glance of ‘oh, look, I will turn the tables!’

So Dean states that the only way Michael is going to be able to use him as a muppet is if he turns Zachariah into charcoal. Zach isn’t too pleased about this and is frozen in disbelief, probably hoping that Dean is bluffing. Of course, he isn’t and before Michael can grab hold of him, Dean twirls out the Angel sword and stabs Zachariah through the jaw into his face. There’s a pivotal moment where you can clearly see that Dean is able to see Zachariah’s true form, indicating that perhaps now that he has pulled a fake Yes, he will be able to see true angelic forms from now on. Or maybe it was just a special occasion. In any case, Zachariah is dead and Sam and Dean bust out of there, hoping Adam is following close behind only to realize that he’s been locked back in the green room.

Adam disappears in a burst of light along with the room and Sam and Dean are left with open mouths.

I’m still concerned about where Cas blasted off too and I hope they address it next week. I’m glad Dean is back on the free will page but still disappointed that he didn’t truely say Yes. Maybe I’m just twisted that way. I WANT TO SEE MICHAEL!DEAN. But I suppose I might have to settle for Michael!Adam. Because let’s face it, there is going to be a brother vs brother confrontation at some point in the finale. Overall, absolutely loved this episode (another strong one from Jeremy Carver) and I’ll give it an 11/10 <3

Supernatural; 100th Episode Tonight!

Congrats SUPERNATURAL for 100 episodes of awesomesauce!

My review will be posted either tonight or tomorrow so keep a look out :)

Supernatural Review; 99 Problems

Woo I’ve actually gotten this up fairly early lol

Onto the review! So I love how this episode started with a really great action scene involving the Impala, some fire, a road block, demons, exorcisms and the holy water truck. The look on Sam and Dean’s faces after they were saved by the Lutheran Milita was pretty hilarious and it had me yelling ’close your mouths!’ the entire time. There were actually quite a few action sequences in this episode within the first half hour which surprised me considering how slow this season is but this episode had me really excited even before the last half of the hour.

Another prominent moment is when Sam calls Cas on his cell, hearing Cas on the other end trying to figure out how to set up his voice mail while randomly dialing unbeknownst to him that it was all being recorded as the message greeting. Hilarious. lol I also want to mention that we can never get enough drunk!Cas and so this paragraph is dedicated to him. It’s easy to see how distraught and lonely Cas feels after being told that his father no longer cares about the Angels/humans/Apocalypse thing. The fact that he drank an entire liquor store is evidence. This brings us to the moment between Cas and Dean outside which reminded me of The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester when they had a little bonding moment in the playground.

Moving on to the entire aspect of the episode – I loved how fast moving this episode was and it moved the story along perfectly in conjunction with the looming Apocalypse, something I have been eagerly awaiting since the middle of the season. I found Leah perfectly psychotic as The Whore and the entire town of hunters believable in their motives.

The one aspect of this episode that I didn’t really care for too much was Dean’s visit with Lisa – whom we’ve only met once back in season 3 but I suppose it lends to the whole ‘Dean has stopped caring about winning and just wants to protect who he can before he says Yes to Michael’ thing lmao. I also found Dean’s despair and desperation in this episode perfectly heart wrenching and am incredibly exicted for next week’s episode to see the Smackdown.

Overall, I’d give this episode a 9/10

Supernatural Review; Dark Side Of The Moon

I’m a little late with this review, mostly because I watched the episode twice last night and by the time I was finished flailing and wibbling, it was time for bed. lol.

The one thing I have to say about this episode is that Heaven looks alot like Canada. \O/ Anyway, onto the actual review lol

I loved that the recap pretty much made fun of the fact that Sam and Dean seem to die an awful lot. I also loved that Dean was totally confident that he’d be back from the dead to stalk and perhaps kill those two hunters that murdered them. Very appropriate for his character considering that he does have a very long track record of actually coming back from the dead lol. The moment with mini!Sam and Dean shooting off fireworks was a nice little moment to see (although a bit cheesy with Sam twirling amongst the flashy lights) but overall it was a cute moment.

CAS!PALA. It was pretty amazing. I am very biased towards Castiel because I think he is one of the most interesting characters on this show but unfortunately, he was only in this episode a great total of 3 minutes. I don’t know what the writers are doing in their writers room but they seem to have completely abandoned any character development on his part. The search for God lasted an episode and a quarter and was pretty under whelming. All I have to say is WE NEED MORE CASTIEL. What happened to him potentially falling? Maybe learning more about humanity? There is so much more to be explore with him but he seems to be swept under the proverbial rug in almost every episode.

Moving on from my Cas!rant – I loved the moment at the end of the episode where he swore at his father and gave up his search, disappearing in a flutter of wings. Also the fact that Dean threw his amulet in the trash indicates that maybe is bond with Sam is faltering and that he is losing all hope in winning this war. I smell a ‘Dean saying yes to Michael’ in the very near future.

I’m not going to talk about the brother moments because they just reiterated everything we’ve already learned in previous seasons. Sam hates his family – is happier on his own without the burden of hunting etc. Dean has epic resentment for him etc. Nothing new there. Which was mostly what this episode was about. Nothing was new.

I did enjoy Ash and Pamela’s return, although they seemed to have been talking more about the politics of heaven than the actual war at hand. It seemed a bit off to me for that reason alone but it is always nice to see characters who have previously bit the dust.

Moving on to Zachariah’s return. It’s always great to see him, especially since he’s such a terrorizer and a butt hurt employee of the month. I am finding the whole ‘you will say yes if I have to beat it out of you’ speech a little tiring and I wish the writers had done something new with it but what else can you do?

The introduction of Joshua was interesting but it felt a little ‘religion’ heavy for me. Despite the fact that I’m Catholic and am obviously not taking offense to it, I do wish they would pull back on the ‘God is the only supreme being in the universe that can  help you’ thing. This is Supernatural. Not bible camp. Sam and Dean should be able to fight this war without divine help. (Not counting Castiel of course <3 lol)

Overall, It was a fairly good episode but this season is really slowing down and becoming frustrating. I wish the Apocalypse would just start already. I’m tired of waiting 22 episodes for them to build it up. It should have already bubbled to the surface by episode 5×10. Anyway, I give this episode a 7/10
